GDMApp 1.0

The GDMApp is evaluated within the BigMedilytics H2020 project, Diabetes Pilot, and is designed for women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). In the pilot context, it aims to support tracking, management, and hospital reporting, with Rotunda Hospital in Ireland serving as a deployment reference.

1. Pairing with Bluetooth glucose meter: The initial setup is straightforward, with generally reliable data transfer from the meter to the app. Occasional delays can occur when multiple devices are present in the vicinity.
2. Monitoring glucose records: The app provides time-stamped glucose entries and trend visualization. Effectiveness depends on consistent user input and adherence to a regular measurement schedule.
3. Monitoring exercises: Activity tracking is available, offering a basic view of physical activity. The granularity and clinical interpretability could be improved for routine use.
4. Monitoring food intake: Dietary logging is supported, enabling basic nutrition tracking. A broader food database and improved portion estimation would enhance utility for dietary management.
5. Pedometer: Step counts and distance are tracked, providing a simple activity metric. Integration with additional devices could improve data reliability.
6. GDM information and helpful tips: Educational content is provided, though ongoing relevance and localization of guidelines are important for pregnant users.
